Laboratory tool

Concentration calculator.

Stock concentration, aliquot volume and dilution series for a lyophilized peptide in solution. Bench arithmetic, nothing more.

Stock solution

From the vial label or the lot's COA (net peptide content, where reported).
Any solvent appropriate to the assay. Enter the volume actually added.

Aliquot

Mass of peptide each aliquot should carry.
Serial dilution from the stock, five steps.

How it is calculated

ConcentrationC = mvial ÷ Vsolvent

milligrams of peptide per millilitre of solution

Aliquot volumeV = maliquot ÷ C

microlitres needed to carry the chosen mass

Aliquots per vialn = mvial ÷ maliquot

rounded down; the remainder is dead volume

Serial dilutionCk = C ÷ fk

each step divides the previous concentration by the factor

Net peptide content on a COA is the mass of peptide, not the gross mass of the lyophilized cake (which includes counter-ions and water). Use the net figure where the lot reports one; it is printed on the lot page at aureumpeptides.com/coa/.
